Feminists
Flee
Putin's Wrath

Back in August, Valimir Putin's government jailed three of the members of Pussy Riot who performed a Punk prayer back February of this year (2012).

Pussy Riot -the punk band that danced in a Russian cathedral to protest the treatment by Putin- have been sentenced to two years for inciting violence and racial hatred. (For details of the original offence and the video of the protest go here.)

Pussy Riot aren't just Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich (the sentenced members) but a "a big collective" Tolokonnikova's husband, Pyotr Verzilov, claims.

"Since the Moscow police said they are searching for them, they will keep a low profile for now..."
"...you must remember that 12 or even 14 members who are still in Russia actively participate in the band's work now..."

.: Two Members of Pussy Riot Flee Russia :.

The anti-Kremlin Band have been putting information out on twitter all day (26/08/12) about this matter.
"In regard to the pursuit, two of our members have successfully fled the country! They are recruiting foreign feminists to prepare new actions!"
    - The Twitter account called Pussy Riot Group claims
The two members fear prosecution and persecution after taking part in the "Punk Prayer" earlier this year.

I, personally, don't think this is the last we will hear from Pussy Riot this month, as they have so far proved to be good at keeping themselves in the News.

  1. I believe everything typed made a bunch of sense. However, think on
this, suppose you were to write a killer headline?
I am not saying your information is not solid, however
suppose you added a post title that grabbed folk's attention? I mean "2FleeFromPutin" is a little boring. You could glance at Yahoo's front
page and watch how they write news headlines to
get people to click. You might add a related video or a pic or two to get people interested about what you've got to say. In my opinion, it could make your website a little livelier.

  2. Thank you for your honesty, Anonymous, creative feedback is always welcomed (it would have been nice if the comment had not come from an Anonymous source though).

I do agree that the original Headline title "2 Flee from Putin" does lack a punch; but in my defence, this is several updates after the original post about the Punk band Pussy Riot: "Who are the feminist collective and Punk-Rock Band Pussy Riot?" and the update after they had been jailed "Pussy Riot" Jailed are much punchier.

However, I have taken this into account and re-titled the post Russian Feminists Flee Putin's Wrath; I hope that meet with approval.

The video, which was inserted into this post seed to have gone wrong. Now it has been fixed. So enjoy the full, improved version of this post.
